DESCRIPTION:

Master class 1 – Smart About Stress

Life can throw us so many ‘midlife curveballs when we enter into our 50’s: losing our job or our partner, children leaving home or facing ageist stereotyping in the workplace. If this sounds at all familiar, then this is a ‘must attend’ master class. We need solid scientific based strategies to deal with stressful situations. When we don’t know how to quickly transform these stressful situations, they make us sick. The American Psychological Association (APA) states that 80 – 90 % of doctor’s visits have the stress response as their root cause.
Animals know instinctively how to rid themselves of stress, as did our early forefathers. We’ve lost this ability over time, but we can relearn it.
If you feel you can better deal with the stressful situations, you’re encountering on almost a daily basis, then I welcome you to this Master Class. You will absolutely walk away with at least one (if not multiple) tips and tools to develop a healthier response to your stress response.
Dr. Robert Sapolsky, of Stanford University in California, has been studying the stress response in humans for a few decades. What he discovered are ‘must know’ facts. Join me to learn what they are and what the ramifications are for your health.

Master class 2 – Building Personal Resiliency

By the time we’ve reached the not so ripe age of 50+, one would think we’d be well equipped to handle all that life puts on our path. The reality is far from this, however. Often the strategies we’ve learned haven’t helped us develop the

The objectives of this 90-minute masterclass are to provide the participants with knowledge, strategies and especially tools, which they can use to sustain themselves during stressful situations.
This will be a highly interactive and self-reflective session for the participants.
Topics will include but not be excluded to: Self-care, Variables of Resiliency, Costs of ‘(di)stress’, Effects of Physical and Social Distancing (Circle of Influence).

Master class 3 – Lifelong Learning for Better Brain Health

One of the misconceptions that still exists, is that our brain doesn’t develop after the age of 30. Nothing could be further from the truth!

Our brains are malleable and continue to develop until the day we die IF we take the proper steps to ensure this.
The objectives of this 90-minute masterclass are to share with you the reasons why this is so, and motivate you with actions you can take, so your 50+ brain stays as healthy as possible.
Topics will include but not be excluded to: Neuroplasticity, Negativity Bias of the Brain, (Growth) Mindset.

Master class 4 – Sleep Yourself Smarter

“Scientists have discovered a revolutionary new treatment that helps you live longer. It enhances your memory and makes you more creative. It makes you look more attractive. It keeps you slim and lowers food cravings. It protects you from cancer and dementia. It wards off colds and the flu. It lowers your risk of heart attacks and stroke, not to mention diabetes. You’ll even feel happier, less depressed, and less anxious.”

Are you interested to discover what this new treatment is??? The above is a quote from Dr. Mathew Walker, a renowned sleep researcher.

Join me in this interactive session (no sleeping allowed!), where you will gain a better understanding of the role sleep plays in your healthy ageing.

Outcomes for this session include a better understanding of why sleep is so important, along with several misconceptions and strategies for increasing the quality and quantity of your sleep.
